Pretty book, no the best info but the design is not that great like brew issue or similar.

This book is accurately described as a dictionary. It’s a good supplement to other books out there. I’m currently reading it alongside Uncommon Grounds and it helps with further explaining or clarifying terms, geographic regions, coffee bean types, etc. I would recommend this book as more of a reference than a detailed guide.

I just finished registering the book and downloading the free lessons. I had no trouble with any of it, and I am not a computer specialist. The book was in perfect condition when it arrived. The book is well organized, with the steps for each procedure indented and numbered. There are many illustrations, both of the picture being worked on and the corresponding icons/sliders, etc. in Photoshop. I just have to find the time to take advantage of all the bounty!

This book requires downloads from Peachpit/Pearson so you need to register on their site. After attempting to register they ask you to enter the 5th word of the first line of step 3 in Chapter 4 of the book. There is no "Step 3" so no download is possible. They do not have telephone support, only contact via a message on their site. You leave the message, get an acknowledgement, but no response.

I needed this book for a college class. It walks you through design step by step but doesn't explain much. It's easy to follow but I feel like I'm learning a shallow version of PS. It's easy to follow and is loaded with pictures.

Love it! Buy it, read it - it's easy to read, and you'll go back to it for inspiration over and over again.

I liked what this author had to say and enjoyed the material, but this was not a book. When I got to the end, I said "Where's the rest of it? Where's the useful stuff?" I went on a hunt and found the author on YouTube giving a TED Talk called Steal Like an Artist. There it was, the entire book in an eleven minute speech. Save your money and just listen to the speech.

Austin Kleon writes, “All advice in autobiographical… This book is me talking to a previous version of myself… These ideas apply to anyone who’s trying to inject some creativity into their life and their work. (That should describe all of us.)” The book is thoughtfully written and designed in a creative six-inch by six-inch format.The idea behind stealing like an artist is that “nothing is completely original… All creative work builds on what came before... If we’re free from the burden of trying to be completely original, we can stop trying to make something out of nothing, and we can embrace influence instead of running away from it.”“We learn by copying. But there’s only one not-so-secret formula that I know: Do good work and share it with people. It’s a two-step process… Not everyone will get it… So get comfortable with being misunderstood, disparaged, or ignored—the trick is to be too busy doing your work to care.” That said, the author says to, “enjoy your obscurity while it lasts… There’s no pressure when you’re unknown. Steal Like an Artist gave me the push I needed to get into a more creative mindset. Although the book, and its message, may seem simple, it is clear that Austin Kleon has dedicated his life to creativity and using that to produce creative work (poetry, writing, drawing). If you feel stuck in a rut (as I did), this book is for you. The main quote that spoke to me was: "If we're free from the burden of trying to be completely original, we can stop trying to make something out of nothing, and we can embrace influence instead of running away from it. (Kleon, 2015). That burden has been with me for a long time, and now Austin Kleon has given me permission to be inspired and taking from others in order to create something unique. "Imitation is about copying. Emulation is when imitation goes one step further, break through into your own thinking" (Kleon, 2015). This is the perfect book for breaking into your own thinking.

This is a pretty tiny book (the cup of coffee I poured when I started reading was still warm when I finished), but may end up being my favorite of everything I read this year. This book was used in my grad level intro biostatistics course some months ago- for an intro course (or at least for my learning style) it just didn't work and I had to find alternate resources for almost everything I was studying. (Note that I heard the same or similar from a few of the other students in my class in informal conversation).I think they were trying to be innovative with how they arranged it - but, at least for me, the material didn't build logically and I kept jumping back and forth trying to figure out what was going on and build my knowledge/expertise in a logical way.Other people have pointed out the errata, which my teacher had to bring up every once in a while - for a beginner who wouldn't be able to identify them, it's not a good thing.On a plus, it's nice that it comes w/ some databases on CD you can play with. There are some good flowcharts on picking a test. And it does present good clinical context.I'll keep the book as an additional reference, but in my opinion it was not the right one to learn the basics on if you're starting at zero. From a student's perspective, wouldn't recommend it at all for a beginning class.-------A couple of years later - and a fair amount of biostats under my belt - I think I was right. It's one of my useful references now that I've learned biostats from other sources.

Pros:1. Excellent worked examples from real clinical studies.2. The explanations are very good overall.Cons:1. The software is basically useless for the text. Only a fraction of the examples are usable using the NCSS software provided, and even the datasets provided do not map to the examples in the text (at least, I couldn't get the same results, even when using Stata or R). Besides, there is no explanation on how to use NCSS and NCSS docs are pretty lame.2. If NCSS was so great, why where there so many outputs from other software packages?3. Don't ask questions in each of the chapters and not provide answers. I don't mean the problems at the end of the chapters, but the questions asked at various points within each chapter. Asking a question without giving an answer is not good for learning.Fix:1. Rewrite all the code using R. It's a free software package and all the statistics can be done using it.2. Make sure the datasets map to the what's in the book. Otherwise, how do you know you're calculating it correctly?

This book is written at a high level for people who already know statistics well. A ton of info crammed into every chapter, hard to follow and complicated examples. If it's a class requirement I advise to get the For Dummies book along with it, it helped me quite a bit.

Very helpful textbook for medical students to resource during development of their research questions.

This is a great book for someone who has already taken biostats and needs a handy reference book to remind them of previously learned concepts. It contains explanations that are wonderful for jogging your memory on things you already know, but the explanations are probably not good enough for people being introduced to these concepts for the first time.

Great basic stats book!

good book but kinda confusing for most of concepts, no solid definition very descriptive way of defining things.

A hard plus if your looking for pregrad. introductory clinical biostatistics. However I agree with other reviews that the layout or format could be arranged more powerfully, and the mechanics explained with more and better examples with a little more detail. Some of the examples in the book are excellent. I, especially, liked the Methods for Analyzing Survival. I disliked the explanations on statististical power as well as calculating sample populations necessary (n=?)to obtain clinical significance. This book is a good bone to start knawing on, however, the meat is found in other supplemental texts; therefore, reference footnotes are needed which- nowadays- should include, reference books, journals and webpages.

This book will teach you exactly how to choose your Labrador Retriever puppy (if you don't own one already), and how to train him/her quickly and effectively. Every training step provided by the author is very well explained, so you should have no problems training your dog by yourself. Definitely recommended!

Very short and to the point. I read it in about 10 minutes. You can find the same information on a website, so I wouldn't bother spending the money on this book. It has about 2-4 pages per topic. House training is like 3 pages...not exactly revolutionary, but not incorrect either. It's not that the book is bad or wrong, it's just not in-depth or more than you can find on any dog training website for free.

My puppy is a lab Shepard mix. He seems to be a very intelligent dog. This book helped me enormously to start training him to potty out side and to walk on a leash. He's also very good with other dogs and my cats. If you want to train your puppy to behave yet be playful, read this book.

More of an overview than actual training manual. It is helpful, however, on the basics at a fair price.

This book is full of wonderful information about the Labrador retriever. It’s going to be very helpful.

Great book. It has easy techniques to do with your dog and it's explained well and to the point. I would recommend to any one with a puppy.
